Patrick's Post Game Wrap
- July 8th, 2009

Game #1 Summary
Patrick’s played the Little Dandy team expecting to start a 2 game
winning streak. The team
knowing full well that the “Dandy” is a young and talented team who we
only beat with the heroics of Geem’s 3 run walk off HR in the bottom of
the 7th the last time we played them.
No suprises here! Everyone
brought their “A” Game. It
needs to be noted that the Schmeze(missed 5 games this year) and
Tolly(Would be there if work wasn’t taking him away-better reason than
Schmeze) were gone and didn’t suit up for the Patrick’s squad.
Who could we bring into
to replace talent of that caliber? It
was the old guard. And I mean
old. Thanks go out do D-Pesta and Dave Zeller for helping us out.
Also, thanks to J-Dog(not so old and very fast) for help as well.
When the team is on it is
due to our defense. Our
defense keyed our offense. Stellar
outfield play combined with outstanding infield play made for an awesome
display.
At 2nd Geem
fully extended for a grounder and threw the guy out at 1st base
with an on target throw. Chris
Meyer showed the range of a MLB shortstop throughout the game and made
play after play. Z pitched
and extraordinary game and through it all propelled patrick’s to the
win, putting us above .500 for the first time in 2009.
Notable performances
Sean Mulcahey…..2k’s and o’fer(What up with that???)…….Chris
Meyer was 4 for 4 with a 3 bagger(smoked that one!)
T-Lip had a double and a triple.
Z was 4 for 4 with 4 singles(outstanding)
Injury Report
Darin Pesta smoked a single on his
first at bat and on his second at bat popped his hammy on the way to
first. Pretty much done for the night!
Tony Abrahamson as he came across 1st base hurt his
heel(went to the Dr. and has Plantar Facieitus and a bone spur.)
Eric Madsen on a diving play to the hole injured his throwing
shoulder.(Where’s the Doc when you need him?)
Game #2 Summary
Playing the top team in our league is challenging enough without injuries.
The sign of a true champion is showing true grit and that is just
what we did. In our first
game three players were hurt and two toughed it out for the second game.
The one who didn’t may live about 45 minutes south of St.
Peter(not mentioning any names). Tony and Eric showed true grit in
playing the whole second game. That
deserves an “atta boy.”
The game started out
UGLY!!! Patrick’s did not record a hit until the bottom of the 4th
inning. Whoa! The team known for its’ stellar defense did not disappoint
and chipped away at the Flames 8 to 2 lead.
Patrick’s made it 8 to 6 in the bottom of the seventh.
There were two on and two out.
The mighty T-lip came to the plate!
Expectations were high and the mighty man was due for a Homerun(9+
games and counting). Due to
circumstances beyond his control, Tom popped up to the first baseman in
foul ground to end the game. The homerless streak extends to 10 games!
Early in the season, Sean
M. excelled at greatness! He
hit well, ran the bases well and generally outplayed everyone on the team.
This prowess was rewarded with the coveted lead-off position.
Sean was valiant and nothing less than spectacular when he took
over for Mr. Tollefson. But as it is said, “all good things must come to an end!”
Sean struck out 3 times in two games and conjured up only one hit
(It was a big one in the bottom of the 7th)
But nonetheless, The stress and lofty expectations of the lead-off
position seemed to be too much! The
question that needs to be asked is “Can Sean return to his old form?”
Key Stat
It should be noted that the Flame Bar Team hit 4 Homeruns for outs in this
game!!!!
