Patrick's Post Game Wrap

Game Summary
Patrick’s battled first place team Flame Bar II on Wednesday night, seeking redemption for the 27-14 beat down that Flame Bar II delivered in the first game of the season. Patrick’s jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight runs in the first inning, all on two outs. Morale was high. The team was upbeat. Even Koop was smiling.
Unfortunately, run production dropped off faster than BP’s stock price and by the end of the third inning, Flame Bar II had taken a lead they would not relinquish. Patrick’s lost the game by a final score of 18-13, dropping the team to 2-4 on the season.
On a positive note, the defensive play of the game was once again turned in by left fielder Tom Lippert as he laid out for a spectacular diving catch to rob Flame Bar II of an extra base hit. Always looking to improve himself as a player, it’s been rumored that next week, Lippert will attempt to throw the ball directly into the cut-off man, a feat not previously attempted in his career.
Key Stats
Four of the five runs scored after the first inning were the result of home runs hit by Geem, Marty Simonette, and a towering shot by Mark Van Zee that still may not have landed. Guimond’s home run was his third of the season, tying him for the team lead. Steve also leads the team in triples, walks, batting average, and OBP.
Conversely, a quick check of the “Puntometer” reveals that Nick Punto is closing in on several players from the Patrick’s Softball team . . .
Nick Punto= .221
Rob Moline= .231
Aaron Mathison= .235
