Patrick's Post Game Wrap - June 25th, 2008

Editor’s Note:
This week, in the absence of normal beat writer Mike Tollefson, two Post Game Wraps were submitted.  Both have been posted for your reading pleasure.

Submitted by Rob Moline:
What a week for the top 2 hitters on the Patrick’s Softball team.  Geem went 3 for 4 after going 0 fer the week before.  He also showed some serious aggression on the bases.  What’s the deal with that?   Jamie “Pretty Boy” Williamson also went 3 for 4.  He didn’t show the aggression on the bases that Geem did, but certainly showed the patience of a skilled surgeon dissecting the opponent with his bat.

Once again high priced free agent acquisition, Tom Lippert continues to disappoint fans and teammates alike.  Initially, Tom showed why he was so highly recruited by pounding out homeruns in the first two games and made the comment to Tolly and Rocket that we should pay him for every home run he hits.  He hasn’t hit one since.  “Maybe we should be paying Tom????”  On an extremely positive note, Tom did field the shortstop position in Derek Jeter-like fashion!

That brings us to the outfield.  With the absence of Mike “Big Tolly” Tollefson, the outfield had large shoes to fill.  Sean Mulcahey filled in admirably and certainly showed the wheels that Tolly once had.  The outfield played well and made Big Tolly Proud.  On a sad note, Tony “Big Stick” Abrahamson and Sean “I am soooo fast”  Mulcahey went a combined 1 for 8 in the hitting department.  Come on guys, hitting like that is only expected from the Rocket!

It is certainly necessary to finish up this week’s summary with the exploits of one said Rocket “Pipes” Moline.  On first base with his only hit of the game, Jamie “Pretty Boy” Williamson came up to bat and poked a great hit to right field which advanced Rocket to third.  On the advice of the 3rd base coach, he goes for home as the third base coach gives him the “you’ll make it easy” sign to go!!  But what do you know?  There’s gonna be a play at the plate!!!!  Wearing shorts Rocket makes a goofy, yet spectacular slide and was called safe.  The catcher missed the tag!   But Rocket didn’t know he was safe until 2 batters later.  Wouldn’t that have been funny if he argued the called with Blue?!?!  Way to go!!  On a brighter note for Rocket “Pipes” Moline, he did come in and strike out 2 of the 4 batters faced in the bottom of the 7th inning.  Good Show!!!

We once again had a beautiful night to play softball in St. Peter.  This week’s victims were the members of Bob's Bail Bonds where their motto is: "We don't just work for the company, we’re clients!"  Just like the first time we faced them this year, we once again took it to them.  Geem's play at third continues to improve.  As long as the balls aren't hit hard, he might make the play.  "Pipes" Moline once again showed why there should be a dress code at the softball fields.  I haven't seen anything that small, white and lifeless since last year in Canada when Bill decided to walk around the campsite wearing only a life jacket.  Tom continues to make us regret our decision of offering him a contract after only one game.  Koop missed this week’s game because he was getting married.  Reports are that his bride-to-be loves him for his cheery personality and big stick.  Ben's complete inability to traverse the base paths continued this week.  I haven't seen anybody look that lost since watching Tollefson trying to catch a line drive.  Back....Back....Luckily for the team, Schmiesing once again pitched a gem of a game and kept them at bay until our bats finally showed up.  Can't wait till next week.
