Game Summary
Nobody likes getting old, but as we all know, it will happen to us all. The saying goes something like this: The only things in life that are certain are death, taxes, getting old and the fact that Geem never fails to bury the eight when it counts. As this year rolls on, several other things have proven to be all but guaranteed. Geem's inability to get any rushed throw within the same area code as the base he is throwing it to has become a weekly
occurrence. (we could talk baserunning, but thats already been covered) Rocket having at least 3 balls go off the tip of his 1947 outfielders glove has also become all too common. The most amazing part of Rocket's weekly clusterf**k, is that he always looks at his glove after missing the ball, as if it's the gloves fault!?!?!?!
The wear and tear of all the beam/cokes, vodka sours, and Michelob Lights, are finally starting to catch up to some of the "mature" members of "The" Patrick's Softball team.
In year's past, Mike Tollefson has enjoyed his time on top, or near the top of the stats page. But time has taken its toll on Tollefson, just like the rest of us. This year, one of the younger members of the Patrick's softball team is staking his claim for regular season OBP and batting avg. glory. After going 2 for 3, with a walk in last weeks loss to Flame Bar II, Sean Mulcahey is batting a mere .696 with an OBP of .800. Those are numbers that, if maintained, will set new records in both categories for
Patrick's Softball. After averaging an OBP of .601 and a batting avg. of .423 over the last 3 years, we are hoping that Sean's finally starting to blossom, and we are expecting good things from him for years to come. While Sean's avg. and OBP continue to climb, his power numbers are
non-existent. Many of his hits barely clear the infielder's heads, and the ground balls are hit so soft, that Rocket could field them if he was playing for the opposition. The only way to describe his hitting is: Bill Arthur like!
Game Notes
T-Lip's homerless streak has hit 6....Schmeze finally ended his 0 for June slump with a 2 for 3 performance. Koop, Madsen, and T-Lip all went 0fer in last week's loss to Flame Bar II.
