Patrick's Post Game Wrap - June 17th, 2009
-Submitted by Mike Tollefson

Game Summary
The team posted a .571 batting average Wednesday night, which propelled them to an 18-8 victory over Flame Bar in 6 innings.  The win was the third in a row for Patrick’s and improves their record to .500 for the season.  There was one notable exception however to the stellar hitting on Wednesday night . . .

Last season, Tom Lippert was repeatedly thrown under the proverbial bus for his “home run drought.”  The good news for Tom this year is that not only has his power stroke returned, another far more interesting streak has developed as another player has replaced Tom by practically hurling themselves under the bus.  You’re off the hook Tom (we won’t mention the fact that you forgot to bring your glove when your Mom wasn’t there to remind you - I won’t even bring that up - we’ll keep it on the down low) as a new era has begun.  Welcome to the Gary Schmiesing “hitless streak.”

Schmiesing’s 0 for 4 performance Wednesday night, punctuated by a strike out in his final at bat, extends his hitless streak to 0 for his last 12 at bats.  Performance like that would have most players sent down to the minor leagues by now.  However, since we are already playing in double E, recreational league, it would appear that there is nowhere to send him.  Anyone aware of a little league team looking for players?

Key Stat
Sean Mulcahey continues to hit with Bill Arthur like power and is 7 for 7 with a walk in his last two games.  He now posts a .773 OBP.
