Patrick's Post Game Wrap

Game Summary
In what can only be explained as an “emotional let-down” following
last week’s dramatic comeback win, the Patrick’s team was swept in a
double header by scores of 22-12 and 14-4.
While the team was “ten-runned” in both contests, post-game
analysis reveals that these games would have actually been quite close
were it not for a couple small, yet key factors:
- Lack
of arm strength in the outfield (T-Lip excluded)
- The
inability of the outfielders to hit their cuts (T-Lip included)
- The
five or six walks issued by Rocketman in the first game
- An
overall lack of team speed on the base paths
- The
fact that despite a gale force wind blowing out, the team was unable
to use both of their home runs in either game
- Horrible
defensive play
- The
fact that we only fielded nine players
- And
the absence of any sort of offensive punch whatsoever.
Other than that, it was
pretty close . . .
Following the game,
reporters were able to reach absent pitcher Gary Schmiesing for comment
where he was quoted as saying “After the team's performance last
Wednesday night, my importance to the team is clear. I will do all I
can to schedule any personal issues around Wednesday nights so I can be
there for the team.” It was later learned that KFAN radio talk show host Dan Cole,
“The Common Man” plans to use this bit in the “Most Preposterous
Statements” segment of his radio program.
Key Stats
All players, age 38 or older have drawn walks this season (7 walks in
total). Players under the age
of 38 have drawn a grand total of 1 walk.
This of course can be interpreted several ways.
However, most experts agree that the younger players are pulling
the trigger prematurely. Fortunately
they make drugs for that now. Perhaps team physician, Dr. Cox could write a prescription?
Injury Report
Pitcher Gary Schmiesing will miss his third game in a row next week.
Speculation is that he continues to rehab a sore neck, injured
while straining upward on the stats page to see Mike and Rocket’s
OBP’s.
