Patrick's Post Game Wrap - May 7th, 2008
Game Summary
Six of the first seven batters to step to the plate scored as the Patrick’s Softball team rolled to a 19-5 win in 3 ½ innings. Eric Madsen continued his power-hitting streak, slugging another two extra base hits, including the season’s first home run, a line drive shot that easily cleared the left center field fence.
Down at Patrick’s after the game, we had the opportunity to watch Minnesota Twins rookie sensation Carlos Gomez hit the for cycle, a feat that had not been accomplished by any Twins batter since Kirby Pucket did it, 22 years ago. The Patrick’s softball team also has two rookie sensations that had fabulous nights at the plate. Jamie Williamson and Steve Guimond played their first games of the season and both emerged from the game having reached base safely in every at bat.
For those of you following the stats, it is worth noting that perennial bottom dweller Rob “the Rocketman” Moline continued his bid to become “Most Improved” player, reaching base safely in all three at bats. Welcome to the middle of the pack Rocketman!
With so many players having great nights at the plate, you are probably wondering where all the outs actually came from. Bill Arthur . . . enough said.
Key Stat
The top five players on the stats page have now reached base safely in 18 out of 20 at bats.
